Afforestation Association was established in 1992 by Order in Council of the Queensland
Government as the NQ Afforestation Program Joint Board, a cooperative local government
combining 11 Councils across north Queensland. The Joint Board was established
for the purpose of employing ex-timber workers displaced after the listing of
the Wet Tropics World Heritage Area through the Community Rainforest Reforestation
Program and other labour market programs. |
